Freepaw Hands-Free Dog Leash
Walk your dog without giving up your hands.
Coffee. Phone. Poo bag. Leash. You've only got two hands — and the leash always wins.
Freepaw clips around your waist so the lead sits where it belongs. Carry your coffee, answer a text, push a pram, or just swing your arms freely. Your dog still gets a proper walk. You get your hands back.
What you get
- Adjustable padded waist belt — fits comfortably over clothing
- Bungee leash — the coil absorbs sudden movement instead of jolting your arm
- Reflective stitching — helps you stay visible on early morning and evening walks
- Metal clip — attaches to any standard collar or harness
- Zip pocket — keys, cards, phone, poo bags
- Five colours — pick the one that suits you
Who it's for
Anyone who walks a dog and would rather not spend the whole time with one hand occupied. Especially good for morning walks with a coffee, evening walks in low light, walking with a pram, and runners who want their arms free.
Common questions
Can I run with my dog attached to me?
Yes — that's one of the main reasons people use a waist leash. The bungee section absorbs changes in pace so you're not jolted mid-stride. Start with shorter runs while you and your dog get used to the feel of it.
Is it safe if my dog pulls hard?
The pull is taken by your waist and core rather than your wrist and shoulder, which most people find far more comfortable. That said, Freepaw doesn't train your dog or stop pulling — it changes where the force lands. If your dog is strong enough that you can't safely control them, keep a hand on the leash as well.
Will it help with my sore shoulder or wrist?
Many people use a waist leash for exactly this reason, because the load moves off the arm. We can't make medical claims — if you have an existing injury, check with your physio or GP first.
Can I walk two dogs at once?
The belt has a single attachment point, so it's designed for one dog. Some people clip a coupler to walk two, though you'd want to be confident handling both.
Can I use it while pushing a pram?
Yes — this is a common use. Both hands stay free for the pram while your dog stays attached at your waist.
Does it fit over a jacket?
The belt is adjustable and fits over clothing, including a winter jacket.
Will it work with my dog's harness?
The metal clip attaches to any standard collar or harness ring.
Is it good for night walks?
The belt and leash have reflective stitching to help drivers and cyclists see you. We'd still recommend a light or reflective vest if you regularly walk in the dark.
How is a bungee leash different from a normal one?
The coiled section stretches, so when your dog stops suddenly or lunges, the movement is absorbed gradually rather than as a sharp jerk. It's more comfortable for both of you.
